The social brain
Why our brains are so wired to be social ?
We constantly crave for other people
We spend most of our lives interacting with people.
We are deeply affected by people’s actions and words.
The social preference circuit
We are interested in understanding what are the brain areas that underlye social processing and how they process information. Currently we are focusing on:
What are the brain areas involved in processing social stimuli/cues?
How do these areas develop over time?
How can environmenet and genes alter the circuit?
Can social responses be modulated by other sensory systems?
The Nociception system
In humans, the social and pain circuit are connected. We have all experienced how our pain can be reduced by social interactions, such as the presence of a friend. We want to understand if social responses can also modulate nociception stimuli in zebrafish.
Adaptive behaviour
We are interested to understand how zebrafish adapt to changes in the environment and what are the brain areas involved in this process.
